1. Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
To Deliver Shareholder value including, financial and human capital returns, positioning in the market place and adding economic value to the MTN Opco within the social, political and economic context of the country and within the MTN Group.

The role will provide leadership to position the MTN OpCo at the forefront of the industry. Develop an OpCo strategic plan to advance MTN’s mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability and growth as an organization. Oversee the operations to insure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management.
2. Context (Global influences, environmental / industry demands, organisational mission etc.)
MTN is entering a new phase in its lifecycle where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. This role must deliver in the following context.

Rapidly changing ICT environment
The geographic complexity of MTN’s foot print across Africa and the Middle East
Management of MTN Group Executives and Local Shareholder expectations for the OpCo
Management of customer and supplier expectations
Constant dynamics and local challenges in the micro and macro-economic, regulatory and legal environments

This role is for small to medium sized OpCos in the WECA and SEA region. Females are being encouraged to apply.
3. Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA’s)
The role will be accountable to deliver the following;

Key Deliverables:

Manage the relationship between the Local stakeholders and MTN Group
Autonomy to provide direction to MTN Opco within the scope of the local board and shareholders
Create Strategy to ensure a sustained economic value driven business
Ensure the Opco is led and managed to meet the business’s goals and strategies in alignment with MTN Group
Position MTN strategically in the market place
Manage the relationship between the Local stakeholders and MTN Group
Accountable for the P&L of the OpCo
Build and lead the Opco leadership team to develop a high performance culture that sustains effective business delivery
Accountable for the profit and loss of the Opco
Accountable for the meeting and exceeding of financial targets as set by the MTN Board
Accountable for prudent financial controls for the organisation as a whole are in place
Create and maintain relationships with key financial institutions
Accountable for MTN corporate social responsibility in the Opco
Leverage economic systems to benefit non-customers
Champion social upliftment programmes
Accountable for ensuring rigorous Corporate Governance aligned to the MTN Group standard
Accountable for Risk management in the Opco
Ensures that the OpCo maintains and manages internal and external corporate citizenship – customer expectation
Manage the OpCo in accordance with long term sustainability goals and drive Interventions and innovations to ensure long term viability

Job Requirements
4. Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Minimum 4-year Academic Degree
Minimum Post graduate qualification (MBA/CA/Masters)
English, French and Arabic (as advantage)


Minimum 10 years of Senior Management Experience
Minimum 10 years in Telecommunications Industry
Minimum 10 years in the Commercial and Operational domains
Work across diverse cultures and geographies
