Duties
The incumbent heads a team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all Post’s telephone and emergency radio systems, including cabling with and between the various U.S. government buildings in Mumbai. The Senior Telephone and Radio Technician supervises one junior Telephone and Radio Technician and two Telephone Operators.
Ensures 24-hour serviceability and accessibility of Post’s telephone facility. The Post’s telephone exchange is made Avaya CS-1000 and Norstar digital switches, associated wiring closets, terminal boxes, cable runs, phone, consoles, answering machines, etc. The technician installs, relocates and/or modifies telephone and radio systems, their associated equipment and cabling.
The incumbent liaisons with local telephone, radio, Internet and cell phone companies to resolve any telecom related link outage. Is responsible for maintaining all aspects of Post’s Emergency and Evacuation Radio Network.
The incumbent is responsible for record keeping for Post’s telephone and radio network and as advised by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years’ experience of telephone maintenance of lines and instruments, in-house structured cabling, data lines, modems, power supplies and batteries is required. Please describe your previous and current job responsibilities in detail. Also mention your Supervisory experience in detail, if applicable for this position.
Education Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School Certificate and two (2) year vocational diploma in a discipline related to Telecommunications, Electronics, or IT is required. Please specify the name of the Certificate/Degree/Diploma course and the major subjects for each qualification you possess.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Fluency (Speaking, reading and writing) in English is required. Fluency (Speaking) in Hindi is required. This may be tested. Please specify in your application your level of proficiency in each language listed here.
